My Attempt at Abstinence [OR] An Exercise Of My Powers Of Self-Control

As of August 11, 2009, I have begun an intense fast which bans the purchase of any clothing...barring extenuating circumstances. Anotherwards, work pants and winter garments are allowable. This fast will last for an entire year. One of my coworkers, knowing my ridiculous addiction to shopping, challenged me to do so. At first, I discarded such a ridiculous idea but eventually I saw its value and have decided to take the challenge. After all, she made it for a year and on a notably smaller wardrobe than mine own. I am kinda nervous that I won't make it. I think as long as I make it through the next couple of weeks, I should be good. I simply hope that I don't buy an item of clothing out of habit and forget that I am fasting.
Why the fast?
Well, I'd like to save some money and I spend a ridiculous amount of money on clothing even every paycheck...it just slips through my fingers.
Also, I will be exercising my self-control muscles and learning discipline.
Maybe, I will use my saved money that I don't spend on clothes for school or a trip to visit Nanny.
There you go. Now you know. So, if you see me (inadvertently or vertently) on the verge of buying clothing, STOP ME! At whatever cost.

FreeCell and Fangirls

I play FreeCell so much that sometimes, when I close my eyes, I can see a game playing in my head...I'll be like "OK...move that black 10 onto the red Jack....it's really creepy...or I will play like 15 games before I go to sleep and then I will have it in my head as I try to sleep.
Yesterday, Marcia and I had some delightful sister time...seeing as all my friends are working a lot and I am working a lot and I don't have any ministries at the new church...well, I have no social life. And I did not want to spend my entire Friday night watching TV shows...altho, that was definitely an option should nothing else fall through:P On our way home, we stopped at 7-11. After grabbing an Arizona green tea, I thot I might pick up some trail mix as well...as I perused the nuts section, the Spitz sunflower seeds caught my eye...you're like "What the crap? Why is that even remotely interesting?" Well, I'm like the biggest X-Files nerdstar. And, get this, I was actually considering buying and consuming a bag of sunflower seeds just because Mulder loves them and always eats them...I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I LIKE SUNFLOWER SEEDS! Lol...but I'm not the only crazy fangirl...there's at least one another...A couple years back, Marcia bought a mango just because the characters from LOST eat them...she even cut it and ate it like John Locke:P Don't say it...we know it...we're nerds....and we don't care and we'll continue to be blissfully nerdy.

Note the bag of sunflower seeds in his hand:P He even takes them on stakeouts...

Joseph focussing on his computer
A pic of Mulder from the start of season 2

Likewise

Mulder and Scully (Early Years)
(Apparently, Mulder looks like Lord Peter Wimsey in this pic)

So, normally I hate drawing...becuz I can't do it...nor can I write...Christina, she can draw and write and play piano and Joy can write and draw as well as Marcia...whereas, when I try to document an event by writing it down, it becomes a yawnfest due to my overattention to detail and lack of literary wit. And, normally, when I try to draw pictures, I have no patience and try to draw a figure as a whole instead of piecing together the small parts of the picture to make a whole. Well, anyways, here I ranting on...
My point is that last night I was complaing cuz I only had like 5 pages left in my diary and I want to finish it so I can buy a new one...Marcia told me she sometimes takes pictures and pastes them in her journal...that got me thinking...since we don't have a printer I went to my computer and the first picture that I came upon was of Mulder and Scully...(no surprise there!) I began to sketch and, after about 30 minutes, I was done Mulder. I returned to draw the rest of the picture - that is, Scully - later last night. Upon showing my fam, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Scully looked recognizable, altho Mulder apparently does not look like Mulder...
Since last night, I have been sketching in my free time...I drew Joy and Joseph and another pic of Mulder that does not resemble him...
I know I'm not a pro or even that great but it is great fun to draw and work out your own version of stuff on the page. I wanted to upload these for Christina so she could critique them and also see what I do in my spare time.
Well, I must run to get ready for work...
So long and thanks for all the fish!

So, I find family frustrating...especially lately...every moment with them seems to irritate me to the point of distraction. Even non-family member
Today we were at church for 4 hours as usual and spent 2 hours altogether driving to and from church. It was ... interesting. I really need an Ipod to listen to on those long car journeys. Although, I did have Inkheart, given to me by one of Joy's friends, so I tried to immerse myself in that. Ended up slumbering instead.
Man, my life is boring.
I started watching this show called Eleventh Hour a couple weeks ago or a couple months ago. Speaking of which, it seems like the weeks are zipping by. Before I know it, it is Sunday again. Anyways, I am really enjoying Eleventh Hour, although it is one of those shows that revolves around the workplace rather than peoples' home lives, which are always more interesting...altho, there is always the hope that the show might branch off to explore the characters' personal lives more.
I found this website where you randomly swap files with people...so when you upload a file, you receive another random file in return....so far I've uploaded only random pics of mine and gotten pictures only back...it's another of my mindless past-times.
Dinner hour approaches...
This fool is gonna fly.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost.

Musical Musings

Can you sing?
Sing me a song.
A song to sooth my anxious mind
A tune to close these tired eyes
A melody ringing clear and true
In my heart.

Perfect Harmony

Perfect harmony
Instruments sing as one voice
In the midst of the harmonious tumult
I find peace
I place of pure delight
And rest in You
My soul sings in unison
With that melodious voice

Hi There!

Welcome to the Dark Zone.

You mean, we're IN the DARK ZONE?

But the Dark Zone is - is full of DEPRAVITY and EVIL!

My ancestors came from the Dark Zone. Although there are not many good planets, there are some. I suggest you find one.

You mean, we. We're together in this.

I am dead. I have no future.

Nooooo!!!!

---> Did you know they are taking the hobbits to Isengard?

lol.
